This course is a full preparation programme for GCSE Combined Science, designed for Year 10–11 students who need clear teaching, structured revision, and practical exam support before final assessments. It is built around the approved curriculum and the original course brief: curriculum mastery first, followed by worked examples, guided practice, independent practice, and timed exam preparation.

Students begin with a diagnostic assessment mapped to the specification, then learn how their exam board, tier, paper structure, assessment objectives, command words, and mark schemes work. From there, the course teaches the underlying content in biology, chemistry, and physics in a logical order, while also building the skills needed to apply knowledge accurately in exam conditions.

The science content is taught in detail, including:

  • Biology: cell biology, organisation, infection and response, bioenergetics, homeostasis and response, inheritance, variation and evolution, and ecology
  • Chemistry: atomic structure, bonding, quantitative chemistry, chemical changes, energy changes, rates, equilibrium, organic chemistry, chemical analysis, and Earth chemistry
  • Physics: energy, electricity, particle models, atomic structure, forces, waves, magnetism, electromagnetism, and space physics where relevant

Alongside theory, the course gives specific attention to the parts of GCSE Combined Science that often limit grades if they are not practised explicitly:

  • Required practicals and how to write about methods, variables, controls, risks, results, graphs, conclusions, and evaluation
  • Scientific vocabulary so students can use precise terminology in short and extended responses
  • Calculations and data handling, including equation use, unit conversion, graph interpretation, percentage change, ratio, and multi-step problem solving
  • Command words and mark schemes, so students can tell the difference between describe, explain, compare, evaluate, calculate, and suggest questions

Each part of the programme is intended to be practical and exam-relevant. Students work through:

  1. clear concept teaching to secure the science
  2. worked examples that model how to think through questions
  3. guided practice with feedback
  4. independent practice using original exam-style questions
  5. short quizzes and cumulative review to strengthen memory
  6. timed drills and mixed-topic practice to improve speed and accuracy
  7. mistake-log activities to track repeated errors and fix them systematically

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • explain core ideas across biology, chemistry, and physics using correct scientific language
  • complete required-practical and data-analysis questions with more confidence
  • handle common GCSE science calculations accurately and show working clearly
  • interpret what exam questions are really asking and structure answers to match mark schemes
  • complete timed mixed-topic practice papers and full mocks more effectively
  • use detailed feedback to create a final grade-targeted revision plan

This course is especially useful for students who know some content already but need a more organised route through the specification, as well as students who want to raise performance through better recall, fewer repeated mistakes, and stronger exam technique.
