This course is designed for IB Diploma Programme Biology Higher Level students who need full syllabus coverage, clearer conceptual understanding, stronger exam performance, and better preparation for the Internal Assessment. It moves from diagnosis and planning into detailed topic mastery, then into experimental design, data handling, IA writing, and timed paper practice.
Students work through the major areas of IB Biology HL in a structured sequence: cell biology, molecular biology, metabolism, genetics, evolution, ecology, conservation, human physiology, plant biology, and higher level extensions. Each section focuses on what students must actually be able to explain, apply, calculate, analyze, and evaluate in IB-style tasks.
The course also teaches the assessment side of the subject directly. Students learn how papers are structured, how command terms change the required answer, how markschemes award credit, and how to recognize the difference between partial and full-mark responses. This makes the course useful not only for learning biology, but for converting knowledge into better marks under exam conditions.
- Syllabus mastery: detailed coverage of core and HL biology concepts with clear links between topics
- Assessment awareness: command terms, assessment objectives, grade descriptors, markscheme logic, and paper expectations
- Practical science skills: variables, controls, uncertainty, graphing, statistics, evaluation, and evidence-based conclusions
- IA preparation: topic selection, research question design, method planning, data processing, analysis, evaluation, and scientific communication
- Exam readiness: original exam-style questions, worked examples, timed drills, mistake analysis, and cumulative review
- Revision strategy: target-grade planning, weak-area remediation, retrieval practice, spaced revision, and final exam planning
By the end of the course, students should be able to use biological terminology precisely, interpret data confidently, design and evaluate investigations, produce stronger IA work, and answer unfamiliar IB Biology HL questions with more accuracy and control. The emphasis is on understanding plus performance: learning the science thoroughly and showing it effectively in assessed work.
