This course prepares students in grades 10–11 for the PSAT/NMSQT by teaching the underlying academic skills tested on the exam and showing how to apply them in a digital, timed format. It is designed for students who want stronger foundations, earlier SAT readiness, and a clearer plan for improving Reading and Writing and Math performance.

Students begin with a diagnostic and readiness map, then move through focused instruction in reading comprehension, evidence, vocabulary in context, grammar, revision, algebra, functions, data analysis, problem solving, geometry, and measurement. The course also teaches digital testing mechanics, adaptive-module pacing, calculator decisions, and structured review methods so students can improve both skill and execution.

  • Diagnostic start: students complete a baseline assessment, analyze results by skill, and create a personal study map with score targets and weekly priorities.
  • Digital PSAT format: students learn the structure of the exam, adaptive module behavior, score reporting, and how to use the digital platform and Desmos tools efficiently.
  • Reading and Writing foundations: instruction covers main ideas, inference, evidence, quantitative information in texts, author purpose, vocabulary in context, text structure, grammar, punctuation, transitions, concision, and revision.
  • Math foundations: students review arithmetic, ratios, percent, algebra, linear equations, inequalities, systems, functions, quadratics, exponential patterns, data analysis, probability, and geometry.
  • Timed performance training: students complete mini-modules, timed drills, mixed sets, and full PSAT-style practice to build pacing, accuracy, and stamina.
  • Error analysis: the course uses mistake logs, targeted reteaching, and full answer explanations so students can identify exactly why an answer was wrong and how to correct the process.
  • PSAT-to-SAT planning: students learn how to interpret PSAT results and convert them into a concrete SAT readiness plan.

The program emphasizes concept mastery before shortcuts. Lessons are built around clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice, independent practice, common mistakes, exam-style questions, short quizzes, cumulative review, and timed drills. Practice materials are intended to be original and skill-aligned rather than copied from copyrighted official exams unless permission is provided.

By the end of the course, students should be able to read short passages more precisely, apply grammar and revision rules more consistently, solve PSAT-level math problems with stronger setup and accuracy, manage timing in the digital format, and use their PSAT performance data to guide the next stage of SAT preparation.
